School History
National Chutung Senior High School was founded on May 6th, 1946. It was originally the Chutung branch of Hsinchu Municipal Hsinchu Junior High School, and the school site was where National Chutung Junior High School is now. In October, 1948, the branch was granted independence as National Chutung Junior High School, and Mr. Ruilin Su was appointed as the first principal.
In 1950, the local administrative area was re-designated. The school was subordinate to Hsinchu County, and thus the school name was changed to Hsinchu County Chutung Junior High School.
In August 1951, to meet the needs of school development, it was relocated to the current location at the foot of Fengyang Mountain in Chutung Township, and a high school was piloted.
In 1953, it was approved to add a senior high department and became a complete middle school. The school name was changed to Hsinchu County Chutung Middle School, and the Beipu branch (now Beipu Junior High School) was established. On April 1st, 1953, it was designated as a social center education experimental school. This was a pioneering work in the history of education in Taiwan, and it was also an internationally renowned experimental school at that time.
In 1961, it was upgraded to Taiwan Provincial Chutung Senior High School.
In the 1969, an advanced evening tuition school was established to educate young people who were out of school. In the fall of 1974, business students were admitted, which was the beginning of the school's business studies.
